Center for Big Bend Studies Annual Meeting (2009)

WTHA Members at the 2009 Center of Big Bend Studies Meeting

A session was presented by WTHA members Leland Turner of Texas Tech University, Peggy Hardman of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, and J. Tillapaugh of the University of Texas—Permian Basin. 

The session included the following presentations:

  • Hardman presented “Kerrville Sanatorium, African American Victory in the Anti-Tuberculosis Crusade”;

  • Turner presented “From Cattle to Cotton and Beyond:  Hydraulic Technology and the Retransformation of the Southern Plains Agricultural Economy;  

  • Tillapaugh presented Ross McSwain’s tribute to Elmer Kelton who passed away in September.
